Needful Things…

Assignment Avalanche

I have been busy for so long, and I cannot believe how long it has been since I took a peek into this blog, or any other blogs for that matter! I don’t remember ever being this busy. Deadlines+hari raya= not a good combo. I’m actually quite disappointed that I haven’t done much to prepare for Hari Raya this year, and celebrations are also rather low-key. For one, I feel guilty about not doing work while I’m nibbling on the rempeyeks and kuih tats. I also feel bad that I couldn’t invite my relatives and cousins to my house as I normally would, but the reality is, I CANNOT. :(

In fact, I didn’t even have time to look for proper gifts for my sisters, their birthdays on 20th and 26th October, a few days ago. In the end their birthdays will be celebrated only today. Happy belated birthday, Long and Fizah. Promise; next year will be better!

This weekend has been the first one I could ‘relax’ and have peace of mind while going visiting. For many weeks before this, especially the week before raya, during raya and the week after, I had been staying up late (read: 4am) every weekday night and REALLY late (read: 8am) on non-school nights to complete assignments and prepare for presentations that all seem to avalanche upon me all at once. It has been a crazy month, and I am in dire need of a good break.

All my sleepless nights are just little sacrifices I have to make; at least my deadlines have been met, I don’t trouble others and cause a lag, and I’m proud of my work. It’s well worth it.

As I write, I actually still have 3 assignments due on 2nd November, basically my Semantics & Pragmatics essay which is almost done (takes ONE more sleepless night i.e TONIGHT to complete), and then there’s my Wikipedia project. Also due on the same day. My Islam module reflection (work in progress!) will be due on the 5th but it’ll probably be completed by this friday.

Then, intensive brain-cramming will commence right after that as my exams (!!!!!) begin on 22nd November. I sure hope the 3 weeks is long enough for me to squeeze all this MALAY KNOWLEDGE in my head only to be spewed out in the exam hall! It has been a tough semester alright, and it would take a lot more prayers/caffeine/cramming to keep my ‘no-C’s record clean. Gulp. God help me.

P.S: Congratulations to Radiah and Azhar on the birth of their newborn, Aariz Irfan, last night. Welcome to the club! :P
